Imaging Student Extern

About the role#

The Imaging Student Extern assists the Radiology team in producing diagnostic images while gaining clinical experience. This role requires working under the supervision of an on-duty Radiology Technologist to support patient care and department operations. This is a part-time, contingent position with a rotating shift.

What you'll do#

• Screen patients for safety, including verifying patient identity and clinical history prior to exams.
• Perform imaging procedures according to established protocols and radiologist specifications.
• Complete patient documentation in accordance with department and hospital policies.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for patients and staff.
• Support department efficiency by managing supplies, reviewing schedules, and attending required training for systems such as PACS and RadNet.
• Maintain a positive work environment through teamwork, effective communication, and cooperative relationships with colleagues and patients.
• Demonstrate self-directed learning and participate in student education requirements.

What you'll need#

• Completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and current enrollment in the second year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to pass the ARRT (R) certification within 6 months of completing the Radiologic Technology program.
• Ability to commit to the role for a maximum of 18 months.
