About the role#
The Imaging Student Extern supports the Radiology team by assisting with patient screening, positioning, and imaging. This part-time, on-site role is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technologist program. You will work under the supervision of a Radiology Technologist to produce diagnostic images following established department protocols.
What you'll do#
- Screen patients for safety prior to exams, including verifying patient identity and clinical history.
- Perform imaging exams using proper techniques based on the patient's condition and requested order.
- Complete all patient-related documentation according to hospital and department policy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Participate in student education requirements and demonstrate self-directed learning.
- Contribute to a positive work environment by practicing teamwork and identifying safety or sanitation concerns.
- Assist with support functions such as monitoring department supplies and reviewing patient schedules.
What you'll need#
- Completion of the first year of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program and current enrollment in the second year.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to pass the ARRT (R) certification within 6 months of completing your program.
- Ability to commit to this role for a maximum of 18 months.
