About the role#
This internship provides practical experience applying engineering principles to industrial electric motor applications. You will work alongside Applications Engineers to understand customer requirements, review technical specifications, and support the development of motor solutions. This role offers exposure to the technical and commercial aspects of applications engineering while you develop skills for a career in the field.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the review of customer specifications and technical requirements.
- Support the selection and application of electric motors based on operating requirements like horsepower, speed, torque, and voltage.
- Help prepare technical information for customer quotations and proposals.
- Work with Sales, Design Engineering, and other internal teams to resolve technical questions.
- Maintain and develop technical product documentation, presentations, and engineering materials.
- Perform technical calculations, data analysis, and product comparisons.
- Participate in discussions to learn about electric motor operation and industrial equipment.
- Support projects related to product applications and process improvement.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering technology disciplines.
- Completed or ongoing foundational coursework in mechanics, electrical systems, energy systems, or materials.
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and engineering specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- An interest in industrial equipment and customer-focused engineering.
