About the role#
The UPS Field Service Intern provides technical and project support to the Toshiba UPS Field Service organization. This role offers hands-on exposure to critical power systems, field service operations, product troubleshooting, and Factory Witness Testing. You will work alongside Field Service, Repair Shop, and Engineering personnel to improve service documentation and support processes for new UPS products.
What you'll do#
- Review existing UPS startup check sheets, service procedures, and technical documentation for accuracy and usability.
- Update and organize startup procedures and related Field Service documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve technical documentation and standardize service processes.
- Assist the Repair Shop team with processes for the return, tracking, and documentation of failed power modules.
- Support failure-tracking activities for new Toshiba UPS products.
- Help prepare and set up equipment for Factory Witness Testing.
- Organize test documentation and checklists for witness testing activities.
- Observe testing to develop an understanding of equipment performance and system operation.
- Shadow experienced personnel to learn about startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting practices.
- Follow electrical safety practices and use required personal protective equipment.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Basic understanding of electrical and electronic principles.
- Interest in power electronics, electrical power systems, or field service engineering.
- Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn hands-on service processes.
- Ability to organize technical information and maintain accurate documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.
- Preferred: Coursework in power systems, circuits, or controls and prior hands-on electronics or project experience.
