About the role#
Toshiba International Corporation is looking for an engineering student to join the Motor Applications Engineering team. This role offers hands-on experience with industrial electric motor applications, bridging the gap between technical engineering principles and commercial requirements. You will work alongside Applications Engineers to review customer specifications, select motors, and support the development of industrial solutions. This position is a chance to gain exposure to rotating equipment, technical sales support, and the full lifecycle of motor product selection.
What you'll do#
- Review customer specifications and technical requirements to determine motor configurations.
- Evaluate application factors like horsepower, torque, speed, voltage, and duty requirements.
- Help prepare technical documentation and data for customer quotations and proposals.
- Collaborate with Sales, Design Engineering, and Applications Engineering teams to resolve technical questions.
- Assist with product comparisons, data analysis, and technical calculations.
- Maintain and develop engineering materials, presentations, and product documentation.
- Participate in technical discussions regarding industrial equipment and motor operation.
- Support ongoing engineering projects related to process improvement and product applications.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering technology disciplines.
- Completed foundational coursework in mechanics, electrical systems, energy systems, or materials.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical specifications or engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an interest in customer-focused engineering.
- Familiarity with AC motors, Variable Frequency Drives, or motor controls is a plus.
- Exposure to engineering software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or MATLAB is helpful.
- Previous experience through labs, design projects, or prior internships is preferred.
