About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will apply industrial engineering principles to real-world production challenges. You will work alongside Industrial, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to analyze processes and improve safety, quality, and efficiency. This position focuses on project-based work that allows you to apply your academic background to operational goals.
What you'll do#
- Support industrial engineering and manufacturing improvement projects within production operations.
- Conduct time studies and process observations to evaluate cycle times, labor utilization, and workflow.
- Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks, waste, and process variation.
- Develop and improve standard work and manufacturing instructions.
- Evaluate workstation layouts, material movement, and production workflows.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with the implementation of process improvements on the production floor.
- Collect and organize data to measure performance and validate improvements.
- Support manufacturing digitalization initiatives to improve production reporting and visibility.
- Work with production employees to develop practical solutions.
- Prepare project documentation, analysis, and presentations.
- Participate in engineering meetings and communicate project progress.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline at an accredited college or university.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Comfort working in an active manufacturing environment.
- Interest in manufacturing operations and continuous improvement.
- Preferred experience or coursework includes Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, time and motion studies, process mapping, work measurement, manufacturing systems, production planning, ergonomics, statistical analysis, or AutoCAD.
- Previous manufacturing, engineering, or project experience is a plus.
