About the role#
KTRK-TV (ABC13) in Houston is seeking an intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in broadcast news, working alongside an experienced team to develop news judgment and production skills.
What you'll do#
- Travel with reporters and photojournalists in the field for newsgathering and live remotes.
- Write copy and edit video for newscasts.
- Observe producers and executive producers in their daily roles.
- Attend morning and afternoon editorial meetings.
- Observe how news is distributed across television, digital, and social media platforms.
What you'll need#
- Previous experience in broadcasting, new media production, or script writing.
- Proficiency in video editing using Adobe Premiere.
- Proficiency with social media.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Current enrollment as a Junior or Senior in a degree program related to Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or Business Administration.
- Submission of a portfolio link included on your résumé.

- Location: Houston, Texas.
- Term: August 2026 through January 2027.
- Schedule: 18 to 20 hours per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $17.75 per hour.
- Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old, possess unrestricted work authorization, and provide your own housing and reliable transportation.
