About the role#
This summer internship offers a hands-on introduction to retail management within our stores. You will learn the fundamentals of sales, customer service, merchandising, and operations. Throughout the program, you will work alongside Store, District, and Regional leadership teams to understand how we drive business goals in a multi-million dollar store environment. High-performing interns may be considered for a future offer to return as an Assistant Store Manager.
What you'll do#
- Lead, develop, and motivate a diverse team of Associates.
- Shadow TJX leaders and collaborate with various store and district functions.
- Complete an operational project and deliver a final presentation to executive leadership.
- Learn visual merchandise presentation standards, including seasonal planning and shop setup.
- Monitor merchandise reporting, sales tracking, and key performance metrics.
- Gain experience in front-line leadership tasks such as scheduling, payroll maintenance, hiring, training, and performance management.
- Participate in a volunteering experience, an executive-led speaker series, and networking events.
- Explore loss control, environmental sustainability, and health and safety initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising senior in a 4-year degree program or enrollment in a 2-year degree program.
- Academic focus in Business Administration, Marketing, or Operations Management.
- Availability for the full duration of the summer program.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate effectively.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and an entrepreneurial drive.
- Prior leadership experience.
- Flexibility to work an in-person schedule that includes nights and weekends.
