About the role#
The ProLift Rigging Company is hiring an Engineering Intern to join our team in Lynchburg, Virginia. This full-time position offers hands-on experience in the industrial construction industry. You will work directly with our engineering, sales, and project management teams to support heavy-lift and transport operations. This is a rolling internship opportunity.
What you'll do#
- Perform field training and hands-on work on heavy-lift and heavy transport jobs.
- Learn crane, rigging, and transport safety standards through training and self-study.
- Complete basic rigging calculations using standard engineering programs.
- Develop a working knowledge of ProLift equipment, load charts, and operational practices.
- Assist the engineering team with new tool development, design, and testing.
- Collaborate with the sales team on equipment layouts, site walks, and concept drawings.
- Work with project management and field teams to create scope plans that meet company standards.
- Travel to jobsites and customer locations as required.
- Build professional relationships with personnel, customers, and vendors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Mechanical, Civil, or Construction Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Ability to perform physical work and a willingness to travel.
- A valid driver's license.
- Flexibility to work long hours or weekends when the project requires it.
- Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and fit for duty assessment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a team.
