About the role#
The Baking and Pastry Arts Internship provides hands-on experience within the Food department at Dollywood Theme Park. This full-time, paid summer program allows you to apply academic theory to daily kitchen operations. You will support various food service functions while completing requirements for your college or university credit.
What you'll do#
- Support kitchen operations across multiple roles, including dishwasher, receiving clerk, and baker.
- Attend Leadership Development classes and weekly intern meetings.
- Manage the loading dock, check in orders, and maintain inventory.
- Inspect food quality and ensure high standards are met.
- Create and implement new pastry items and Plate Perfect recipes.
- Manage aspects of the P&L, including labor and cost analysis.
- Assist in creating improvements for profit contribution and cost savings.
- Execute a special project for the Foods area.
- Maintain compliance with Health Department, ServSafe, and company food safety regulations.
What you'll need#
- Minimum eighteen years of age.
- Enrollment in a continuing education or college program.
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance, and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for up to 13 hours.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
