About the role#
The Pastor/Director of Student Formation at York Alliance Church leads the ministry for students in grades 6-12. You will work alongside parents to help students grow into mature disciples of Jesus. This role involves setting a long-term vision, teaching God's Word, and managing the daily operations of the student ministry department.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement a vision for Student Ministries that aligns with the church mission.
- Create a discipleship path for junior and senior high students.
- Teach students and organize local and global mission trips.
- Build and empower an adult leadership team to assist in ministry activities.
- Recruit new leaders and mentor student leaders.
- Communicate regularly with parents and the congregation.
- Manage student resources and maintain a student safety program.
- Participate as a member of the church staff team.
- Assist with annual budget planning and monitor departmental spending.
- Maintain a healthy balance between ministry, family, and personal time, including a dedicated Sabbath day.
What you'll need#
- At least 2 years of experience in a student ministry role.
- A strong sense of calling to minister to students.
- Ability to lead as a department head and maintain a solid work ethic.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Passion for developing students into followers of Jesus.
- A student ministry degree is preferred but not required.
- Experience working in the secular marketplace is a plus.
