About the role#
The Caton Companies is looking for a Human Resources Intern for a summer 2027 position in Charlottesville, Virginia. This is a full-time, paid internship lasting 10 to 12 weeks. You will work on-site and provide support to the senior HR team.
What you'll do#
You will help the HR team with daily operations and administrative tasks. Your responsibilities include:
- Posting job openings and reviewing applications.
- Preparing orientation materials and new-hire packets.
- Updating employee records and HR files.
- Entering employee data into the HRIS and other systems.
- Coordinating background checks and employment verifications.
- Supporting benefits administration and employee engagement activities.
- Preparing reports, presentations, and other documents.
- Assisting with HR compliance, audits, and offboarding processes.
- Researching HR topics and employment trends.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
- You have completed at least your sophomore year of college.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and a task-oriented mindset.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
