    About the role#

    The Guidance Analysis Department is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Graduate Intern. You will support launch vehicle, missile, and missile defense systems for customers including the Space Force, the Missile Defense Agency, and NASA. This role involves verifying contractor designs and evaluating GNC system performance for current and future vehicles.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop mathematical models and high-fidelity computational simulations of launch vehicles.
    • Create tools to analyze flight control systems, guidance, and navigation algorithms.
    • Support software tools for time and frequency domain controls analysis.
    • Perform trajectory studies, error analyses, and orbital perturbation assessments.
    • Conduct statistical analyses of launch vehicle trajectories, maneuvers, and targeting accuracy.
    • Verify contractor designs and overall GN&C performance.
    • Prepare technical reports and briefings for analysts and management.
    • Work both independently and with interdisciplinary teams across multiple programs.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently enrolled full-time in a Master's or PhD program in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Bachelor's degree completed by the start of the internship.
    • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Availability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks outside of the university term.
    • Ability to return to your graduate program full-time after the internship.
    • Knowledge of control systems, kinematics/dynamics, flight dynamics, orbital mechanics, or guidance and navigation.
    • Experience with modeling and simulation for linear or nonlinear dynamic systems.
    • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C++, or Fortran.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).
    • Submission of academic transcripts.

    • Employment: Full-time.
    • Compensation: $32.00 to $38.00 per hour.
