About the role#
The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a graduate intern to join the Structural Mechanics Subdivision. This role focuses on structural dynamics, specifically related to rocket and satellite structures. You will work within the Vehicle Systems Division to support the design, testing, and operational phases of space systems.
What you'll do#
- Develop, organize, and improve software and simulation tools for structural dynamics problems related to flight and post-flight loads of space vehicles.
- Refine processes for preparing test and flight sensor data for comparison with analytical predictions and fleet monitoring.
- Apply technical procedures to complete engineering tasks involving the dynamic loading of vehicles.
- Document your work and present findings and recommendations to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current full-time enrollment in a Master's or Ph.D. program in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A Bachelor's degree completed by the start date of the internship.
- Ability to work full-time on-site for at least 10 weeks and return to your degree program afterward.
- Familiarity with Python, Matlab, and Fortran programming environments.
- A demonstrated interest in structural dynamics for rocket and satellite systems.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
