About the role#
The Emerging Missions Flight Dynamics department provides flight mechanics expertise for the cislunar domain. You will support research, development, and analysis for a variety of customer needs. This role involves collaborating with engineering partners to build technical solutions for space enterprise challenges.
What you'll do#
- Perform orbital mechanics and trajectory design analysis, including impulsive and low-thrust optimization.
- Develop Concepts of Operations and Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for space and near-space systems.
- Create new capabilities using optimal control theory and flight mechanics.
- Build and maintain flight dynamics tools and software features.
- Partner on maneuver and orbit design for Rendezvous and Proximity Operations.
- Conduct facility location optimization and trajectory sequence generation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in C, C++, Python, Fortran, or MATLAB.
- Experience in space mission analysis, advanced astrodynamics, cislunar trajectory design, or algorithm development.
- Ability to work full-time for at least 10 weeks and return to your degree program afterward.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.

- Compensation: $32.00 to $48.00 per hour.
