About the role#
The Department of Residence Life at Texas A&M University is seeking a Student Development Specialist II to support residential communities. This role focuses on fostering student engagement, managing residential facilities, and supervising staff to promote academic success. This is a full-time, on-site position based in College Station, Texas.
What you'll do#
- Foster resident engagement and build community through educational, social, and Living Learning programs.
- Recruit, supervise, train, develop, and evaluate Resident Advisors and assigned staff.
- Manage building access, safety inspections, fire drills, facilities concerns, and housing assignments.
- Serve as a liaison for camps and conferences, coordinating with campus partners and sponsors.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to emergencies, incidents, and resident concerns.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least one year of experience in student affairs or a related specialty.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to act independently and react appropriately in crisis situations.
- A Master’s degree in student affairs, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
