About the role#
The Cybersecurity Internship is part of our Consultant Development Program. This paid program helps you build the technical and professional skills needed to work as an Information Security Associate. You will join our Healthcare practice area to protect sensitive data for hospitals, clinics, insurance companies, and medical device manufacturers. The program runs from January 25 to April 2, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Work with healthcare organizations to ensure the protection of Protected Healthcare Information (PHI).
- Perform security posture and control assessments to validate data protection and ensure compliance with HIPAA and HITRUST.
- Provide advisement services for HIPAA and HITRUST compliance.
- Conduct project delivery activities and assist consultants with client engagements.
- Observe and help with penetration testing and social engineering projects.
- Plan, document, and execute technical project plans.
- Observe implementations of enterprise security solutions.
- Learn about industry-standard certifications and frameworks like PCI-DSS and ISO 27001.
- Develop your technical and business skills.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree or current enrollment at an accredited 4-year university, or military equivalent.
- Basic familiarity with networking concepts such as firewalls, routers, switches, and DNS.
- Basic familiarity with server systems administration and computer troubleshooting.
- Basic familiarity with business planning and accounting.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.
- Excellent writing skills for both technical and expository documentation.
- A self-starter mindset with an interest in learning on your own.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks and IT or cybersecurity certifications are a plus.

- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship.
- Locations: Irvine, California, or Fairfax, Virginia.
- Term: Winter 2027.
