About the role#
The Student Intern in Civil Engineering assists with site development and site finishing for commercial projects. You will work under the supervision of a licensed civil engineer and collaborate with designers and other staff members. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Wichita, Kansas.
What you'll do#
- Create 3-D models and drawings for site development.
- Review rough sketches, specifications, and engineering data.
- Plot maps and charts showing profiles, cross-sections, and topographical contours.
- Draft detailed drawings for pads, roads, drainage, and pipelines.
- Prepare site grading and erosion control measures.
- Learn to apply governmental regulations, codes, and ordinances to project plans.
- Support site development projects of various sizes.
- Visually survey, measure, and assess project sites and site elements.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Previous civil engineering internships are preferred, though equivalent combinations of education and experience are considered.
- Proficiency with AutoDesk products like AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS, Vehicle Tracking, and HydroCAD.
- Competency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to traverse uneven terrain and climb ladders or steps at construction sites.
