About the role#
The Intern in Architecture works under the supervision of a senior architectural professional. You will receive detailed feedback as you develop construction drawings and take on design and coordination assignments. Your tasks will grow in complexity and scope as you demonstrate mastery of the work. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Track performance for NCARB registration and AXP requirements.
- Research and document code requirements, including participation in meetings with code officials.
- Prepare assigned sheets for construction drawing sets and produce elevation drawings.
- Assist with material schedules and evaluate scope, quantity, and cost against material selections.
- Develop proficiency in Revit and other AutoDesk tools.
- Ensure design and detail changes are updated across all relevant drawings.
- Check your own work for accuracy before submission.
- Assist with obtaining project approvals and permits.
- Take on full responsibility for all phases of small, limited-complexity projects as you progress.
- Survey and assess project sites, which may require climbing ladders or traversing uneven terrain.
What you'll need#
- A four-year degree in Architecture from an NAAB accredited program.
- Successful completion of a Revit proficiency assessment.
- An academic portfolio.
- One to two years of experience in an architectural or building environment is preferred, though equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Knowledge of building codes, construction practices, and the design process.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and through oral presentations.
- Skills in architectural lettering and hand sketching.
