About the role#
The User Terminal Engineering Co-op will work within the Lightspeed System Development team to support the design and testing of user terminal sub-systems. This role involves working under the guidance of technical staff to contribute to software development and hardware testing efforts. At the end of the term, you will present your analysis and project findings to the User Terminal Segment management team.
What you'll do#
- Support design and testing activities for user terminals.
- Perform theoretical analysis and document findings.
- Develop and execute lab setups, test plans, and test procedures.
- Write software in Python, C++, or other assigned languages.
- Create automation scripts to support testing.
- Collect and analyze data from tests and simulations.
- Generate reports detailing test plans, results, and conclusions.
- Maintain technical documentation for sub-systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2nd or 3rd year Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Communications.
- Interest in satellite communications, antenna and modem design, and RF equipment such as LNAs, power amplifiers, and converters.
- Familiarity with wireless transmission techniques and modulation.
- Awareness of satellite communication technologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
