About the role#
The Telesat Lightspeed Network Engineering team manages the end-to-end network design for the Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit network. This co-op role focuses on using software automation and AI-based capabilities to streamline design, validation, and documentation processes in preparation for the network launch. You will work within the Lightspeed System Development department on landing stations and user terminals.
What you'll do#
- Build high-quality software components to automate network configuration and validation tasks.
- Use AI tools and methodologies to accelerate network validation and documentation deliverables.
- Participate in daily design, integration, and validation activities within the Network Engineering team.
- Manage assigned tasks to meet scheduled timeframes while maintaining high quality standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a co-op program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Cybersecurity.
- Proficiency in Python for automation and testing.
- Experience with software development in Linux environments.
- Practical knowledge of Git and GitHub for version control.
- Experience with Ansible for IT automation.
- Familiarity with AI tools for development and testing, such as Co-Pilot, Qodo, or Rovo.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Preferred: Understanding of networking concepts like IP routing and ethernet switching, experience with virtualization (VMware, Proxmox), and familiarity with JIRA or Confluence. Experience with network test tools like Ixia or Spirent is also an asset.
