The Student Radiology Tech (PRN) role provides support within the radiography department at T.J. Regional Health. This position is designed for students currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program to gain practical experience while assisting technologists with daily operations. Please note that students in this role are not permitted to expose patients to radiation.
What you'll do#
- Assist with room preparation, cleaning, and maintaining inventory of linens and supplies.
- Transport patients and assist with documentation using Cerner, RIS, and PACS systems.
- Support technologists during radiologic examinations while adhering to all radiation safety and protection protocols.
- Monitor equipment during examinations and report any unusual occurrences.
- Apply knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology to patient care.
- Identify patient needs and methods of treatment across pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric age groups.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements, consent policies, and patient safety precautions, including proper patient identification and shielding.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma.
- Current enrollment as a second-year student in an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Working knowledge of RIS and PACS systems.
- Ability to see and hear clearly, with assistance if needed.
- Physical capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Commitment to maintaining professional relationships and demonstrating courtesy to patients, families, and staff.
