About the role#
This summer internship provides analytics support within the Business Analytics function at Sun Life. You will work with the Advanced Analytics Transformation team to apply machine learning to business outcomes in Health and Risk Solutions. This role involves working alongside experienced data scientists on projects that support pricing, underwriting, and clinical review processes.
What you'll do#
- Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and predictive modeling.
- Build, validate, and maintain predictive models and AI solutions.
- Use structured and unstructured data with machine learning techniques to improve model performance.
- Interpret data and model outputs to create actionable recommendations for the business.
- Follow team standards for writing, organizing, and documenting code to ensure work is reproducible.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Academic focus in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer 2027 session.
- Legal eligibility to work in the United States.
- Knowledge of generative AI, such as prompt engineering or LLM integration, is a plus.

- The role is hybrid.
- You must be located near one of our offices in Wellesley Hills, MA; Kansas City, MO; Hartford, CT; Portland, ME; or Milwaukee, WI.
