About the role#
The Engineering Intern joins our natural gas engineering team in Little Rock. You will work alongside design engineers and drafters to research, prepare, and document capital construction projects. This work contributes to the modernization of our natural gas distribution system.
What you'll do#
- Assist designers with daily tasks to produce construction documents for natural gas projects.
- Help with hydraulic analysis studies to determine design parameters using company modeling software.
- Perform occasional field work to review construction for compliance with company standards.
- Maintain accurate records for gas system installation and monitoring, including pipeline inspections, excavations, and as-built drawings.
- Coordinate with the GIS department and perform periodic data entry.
- Research historical installation and repair documentation for existing facilities.
- Update Access databases and Excel spreadsheets to track project status.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student, preferably as a sophomore, junior, or senior, in an ABET accredited Bachelor of Science in Engineering program.
- A strong GPA and solid mathematical proficiency.
- Demonstrated technical and analytical capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk/Civil-3D, and modeling or simulation programs.
- Ability to learn and immediately apply training on new software.
- Strong organizational and planning skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write in a technical format.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to accept feedback.
- Personal initiative to reach out to mentors when needed.
