The Student Information Systems Specialist serves as the district’s primary expert and administrator for PowerSchool. You will ensure the accurate, secure, and efficient management of student data while supporting district operations through system optimization, staff training, and compliance with reporting requirements. This role collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers, and IT personnel to ensure PowerSchool effectively meets instructional and operational needs.
What you'll do#
- Serve as the district’s lead PowerSchool administrator, managing configuration, user accounts, security permissions, and system updates.
- Maintain the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all student information.
- Prepare and submit required state and federal data collections and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with FERPA and data governance policies.
- Provide ongoing training and support for school staff, including the creation of user guides and documentation.
- Analyze district workflows to recommend improvements and collaborate with IT teams to integrate PowerSchool with third-party systems.
- Act as a liaison between departments and national teams regarding student data needs.
What you'll need#
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with PowerSchool, including administration, data management, or reporting.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Education, Data Management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of student data systems, data privacy laws, and reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, data analysis tools, and report creation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to train non-technical users.
