Engineering Intern

About the role#

Strata Clean Energy is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the development of SCADA and I&C (Instrumentation and Controls) designs for utility-scale solar PV and battery storage projects. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026 based on-site in Durham, North Carolina.

What you'll do#

• Create and develop I&C deliverables, including bills of materials, block diagrams, and wiring schematics.
• Specify components to meet project requirements for designs and RFP development.
• Assist in the business development process to support project acquisition.
• Collaborate with I&C and SCADA engineers to provide commissioning support through project completion.
• Develop SCADA systems for repower projects, including potential programming, testing, and site visits for scope and estimate development.
• Perform technical reviews of third-party documentation and assist with NERC compliance.
• Develop templates and methods to improve departmental efficiency.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a BS in Engineering, with a preference for Electrical or Environmental Engineering. Graduate students and other engineering disciplines are also encouraged to apply.
• Academic standing as a junior or sophomore is preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Interest or experience in PV projects and clean energy.
• AutoCAD experience is considered an asset, or a willingness to learn the software.
• Ability to perform physical tasks in both office and field environments, including sitting, standing, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
