The Development Intern will support the West Development Team during Summer 2026, gaining hands-on exposure to the development lifecycle of utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems, and data center energy infrastructure. This role involves assisting with project organization, data management, and coordination tasks while providing insight into site selection, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement processes.
What you'll do#
- Organize and maintain project development files, trackers, and databases across multiple active projects.
- Compile market research on western U.S. transmission constraints, renewable energy policy, and data center load growth trends.
- Conduct research on project sites, including land ownership, zoning, and permitting requirements.
- Track project milestones, deadlines, and deliverables, flagging items at risk of slipping.
- Review site layouts, maps, and GIS data to support site evaluation efforts.
- Assist with interconnection application tracking, documentation, and filing coordination.
- Support environmental and permitting review processes, including summarizing agency requirements.
- Maintain landowner and stakeholder contact records and assist with outreach materials.
- Prepare materials for internal meetings, presentations, and project status updates.
- Support preliminary project cost tracking and internal reporting.
- Improve internal tracking systems across Excel, SharePoint, and CRM platforms.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Engineering, Business, Geography, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented with a high standard for accuracy in data and documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A genuine interest in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or sustainable development.
- Preferred: Familiarity with GIS tools, SharePoint, CRM platforms, or project management software, and exposure to energy markets or permitting processes.

- Location: Denver, Colorado.
- Term: Summer 2026 (June – August).
- Modality: On-site, part-time (~20 hours/week).
- This is a paid internship.
