About the role#
This internship offers a mix of office-based engineering work and hands-on industrial experience. You will work alongside operators and maintenance teams in the Cold Mill Department. You will apply engineering principles to equipment and systems, test solutions in real-world conditions, and see the results of your work on the production floor.
What you'll do#
- Assist with substation reliability, preventative maintenance, inspections, and spare parts planning.
- Support safety initiatives like labeling, schematic reviews, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Participate in installation projects by reviewing diagrams and updating system documentation.
- Help with instrumentation and control projects, including HMI programming and logic development.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems while sourcing replacement parts.
- Manage inventory by cataloging materials and preparing bills of materials.
- Shadow electricians to gain field experience with installations and maintenance.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams on process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Coursework or experience in electrical machinery, power distribution, PLCs, automation systems, or power electronics and drives.
- A GPA of at least 2.7 is preferred.
