About the role#
The Staten Island FerryHawks offer a summer internship for students interested in motion graphics within a professional sports environment. This program focuses on education and training, providing hands-on experience by working alongside staff to produce content for home games. You will gain insight into how a professional organization manages its visual identity and live-event production.
What you'll do#
- Observe and assist staff in designing and running video board, broadcast, studio, and in-game animations.
- Create animated graphics in a live professional sports environment.
- Learn how animated graphics are built for the video board and in-game presentation.
- Observe how broadcast and studio motion packages are designed and used.
- Gain hands-on experience in After Effects on practice builds.
- Develop spec and practice pieces reviewed by staff.
- Learn how motion templates and project files are organized.
- Experience how live-event graphics come together on a game day.
- Attend designated home games, including July 4th.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in motion design, animation, film, graphic design, digital media, or a related field.
- Ability to earn academic credit through your school, with written confirmation of eligibility.
- Familiarity with Adobe After Effects.
- A reel or samples of prior motion or animation work.
- Experience with Blender, Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, or Photoshop is a plus.
