    About the role#

    The Small Cap Equities Intern will join a team of six investment professionals. You will work under the guidance of a Lead Portfolio Manager to construct a diversified portfolio. The team focuses on bottom-up stock selection to generate alpha over an intermediate to long-term horizon. You will balance fundamental business model analysis with risk assessment to identify reasonably valued, high-quality companies.

    What you'll do#

    • Apply an investment process to generate alpha against a benchmark.
    • Perform fundamental business model assessments and valuation analysis for individual securities.
    • Use relative valuation and quantitative methods to determine investment attractiveness.
    • Monitor quarterly earnings releases to evaluate current investment views.
    • Interact with sell-side analysts and company management teams to form investment opinions.
    • Generate and pitch new investment ideas for specific sectors.
    • Complete special projects as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Applied Equity Analysis.
    • Strong academic performance and a clear passion for investing.
    • Ability to work independently and thrive in unstructured environments.
    • Working knowledge of the investing process, including financial modeling and valuation frameworks.
    • Experience using FactSet or Bloomberg.
    • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
    • Progress toward Chartered Financial Analyst certification.

    Location & details#

    • This is a full-time, paid internship based on-site in Madison, Wisconsin.
    • The term is scheduled for Summer 2027.
