About the role#
Join our Software Engineering team as a UI/UX Intern. You will help create internal web applications that support investment research and operational workflows. Our tools help colleagues manage complex information and complete important business processes. You will work closely with engineers and business partners on real products while developing your design practice.
What you'll do#
- Design user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for internal web applications.
- Transform complex workflows and dense information into clear, effective user experiences.
- Participate in user research, incorporate feedback, and iterate on designs with business partners and engineers.
- Evolve reusable Figma components and evaluate how design systems and AI-assisted tools improve the path from design to software.
What you'll need#
- Current student in product design, UX design, interaction design, human-computer interaction, visual communication, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Figma or a comparable tool for wireframing and prototyping.
- Understanding of user-centered design practices like research, workflow mapping, and iterative refinement.
- Ability to create designs that are intuitive, functional, accessible, and appropriately polished.
- Interest in designing for complex, data-rich workflows.
- Experience with dashboards, analytical tools, or enterprise applications is a plus.
- Curiosity about design systems and how design choices translate into working software.
- Exposure to tools such as Material UI, Vue, React, or AI-assisted development is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Commitment: 15 to 20 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks.
- This is a paid internship.
