    About the role#

    The Student and Teacher Educator and Volunteer Coordinator leads educational programming and manages the volunteer program at the Oklahoma History Center. You will create learning experiences for students, teachers, and the public while recruiting and supporting volunteers who assist with museum operations. This role involves collaboration with museum staff, schools, and community organizations to support the mission of the Oklahoma Historical Society.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop and deliver educational programs including field trips, tours, and outreach activities.
    • Create curricula, lesson plans, and educational resources like e-exhibits.
    • Coordinate teacher workshops and professional development opportunities.
    • Build partnerships with schools, universities, and community groups.
    • Evaluate programs and prepare reports, statistics, and grant documentation.
    • Lead volunteer recruitment, training, and retention efforts.
    • Serve as the primary contact for volunteer inquiries and manage volunteer schedules.
    • Collaborate with museum departments to identify volunteer needs and match skills to assignments.
    • Maintain accurate records of volunteer participation and engagement.
    • Support museum festivals, special events, and visitor engagement.

    What you'll need#

    • A bachelor's degree in education, museum studies, history, public history, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience developing or delivering educational programs.
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with diverse groups.
    • An interest in Oklahoma history, museums, and public engagement.
    • Classroom experience is preferred.
    • Experience in volunteer management or using database software is preferred.

    • Location: Oklahoma History Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
    • Employment type: Full time.
    • Salary: Up to $44,000 per year, based on education and experience.
    • Work modality: On-site.
    • Availability: Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
