About the role#
This summer internship offers students the chance to gain hands-on experience in the Property & Casualty Claims Department. You will work with experienced professionals to learn the end-to-end claims process. The program runs from June 2, 2027, to August 11, 2027, and requires a commitment of 38.75 hours per week. Interns may have the opportunity to return for a second summer.
What you'll do#
- Build core claim-handling skills, including investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and policy application.
- Work alongside experienced professionals on property claims involving fire or weather-related losses.
- Inspect residential and commercial properties while learning safe field-inspection practices.
- Use appropriate equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Connect with senior leadership and mentors to support your professional growth.
- Build your network and participate in volunteer opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student entering your sophomore, junior, or senior year.
- A major in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Construction Management, Property Management, or a related field.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail and a focus on customer needs.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
- The work arrangement is primarily remote, with one mandatory week of in-person work at a designated hub location (Dunwoody, GA; Richardson, TX; Tempe, AZ; or Bloomington, IL).
- You will need reliable transportation for potential ride-alongs with claims professionals. Work-related mileage is reimbursed.
- Compensation is $24.00 per hour, plus a $2,000 stipend.
