About the role#
The 2027 Data Summer Intern will join the Global Technology Data team at Starwood Capital Group. You will help design, build, and test data applications and automations that support real business workflows. Projects focus on asset management and acquisitions, including data pipeline work, analytics, and process automation. This program is built for learning. You will be paired with a mentor, attend regular coaching sessions, and participate in code reviews. We value curiosity and a willingness to experiment over existing expertise.
What you'll do#
- Build automated ingestion and transformation pipelines alongside data engineers.
- Deliver production-ready datasets for asset management and acquisitions teams.
- Connect internal data warehouses to APIs, business applications, and other data sources.
- Work with business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities, define tool requirements, and gather feedback.
- Join team meetings, contribute to design reviews, and share ideas on project teams.
- Apply firm standards for data security, privacy, governance, and responsible data use.
What you'll need#
- You must be a 2028 college graduate.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or Quantitative Finance.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Strong interest in data and business automation.
- Analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a desire to learn quickly.
- Experience with full-stack software or data development is a plus.
- Familiarity with Git, cloud platforms, or APIs is helpful.
- An interest in real estate, finance, or investment management is preferred.
