About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience inside a local distribution center. You will work alongside branch leadership, operations, sales, and customer service teams to learn how the business operates from the ground up. This program is designed for students interested in exploring a career in distribution, operations, or management. Successful interns may be considered for the full-time Management Trainee program after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Learn the day-to-day operations of a multi-million-dollar distribution center.
- Gain exposure to receiving, warehouse operations, dispatch, delivery, customer service, order entry, and outside sales.
- Work closely with the Branch Manager and the branch team.
- Shadow experienced sales professionals to learn how to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Take ownership of a strategic summer project and present your work to company leadership.
- Participate in a 3-day visit to corporate headquarters.
- Build practical skills in leadership, communication, problem-solving, time management, and business operations.
- Participate in hands-on branch activities, including the occasional handling of building materials.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Distribution, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, Management, or a related field.
- Expected to graduate within two semesters following the internship.
- Available to work full-time for 10-12 weeks between May and August 2027.
- Demonstrated involvement in work, student organizations, athletics, or other team-based activities.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work in both an office and warehouse environment, including the ability to occasionally lift materials up to 25 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer without sponsorship.

- This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- Available locations include Joliet, IL; Madison Heights, MI; Traverse City, MI; Sterling Heights, MI; Omaha, NE; Lincoln, NE; Louisville, KY; Lexington, KY; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD; Canton, OH; Bloomington, IN; and Des Moines, IA, as well as other locations in Wyoming and Michigan.
