About the role#
SpaceWorks Enterprises is looking for interns for the Spring 2027 term. You will join a small engineering team to design, develop, and test spacecraft, small satellites, reentry capsules, and hypersonic flight systems. This is a full-time, hourly position based in Atlanta, Georgia.
What you'll do#
- Develop and optimize aerodynamic designs from concept through detailed design.
- Conduct detailed analysis to predict and enhance aerodynamic performance using CFD and lower-order methods.
- Predict convective and radiative heating environments during ascent, atmospheric flight, and re-entry.
- Assess aero-thermal-structural interactions to recommend design solutions.
- Perform mass modeling and vehicle closure for aerospace architectures.
- Design and optimize trajectories using 3-DOF tools.
- Develop engineering design and analysis software for propulsion, trajectory, and aerodynamics systems.
- Support development of commercial off the shelf products and custom code for customers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a degree program for aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python or MATLAB.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to apply first-principles to simplify systems and perform hand calculations.
- Capability to create and interpret engineering drawings and technical reports.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
