About the role#
The Engineering Technology Department at Southwestern Oklahoma State University seeks a Graduate Assistant to support academic, research, and industry engagement efforts. This role provides professional experience in engineering technology and technical education. You will work under the direction of the Department Chair to assist students, faculty, and staff.
What you'll do#
- Help students with job searches by identifying and sharing relevant internship and employment opportunities.
- Provide one-on-one career development support, including resume reviews and interview preparation.
- Build and maintain relationships with regional industry partners to coordinate internship and cooperative education placements.
- Assist faculty with applied research projects in manufacturing, engineering technology, and technical education, including data collection and literature reviews.
- Support laboratory operations through equipment organization, preparation, and technical demonstrations.
- Help with department events such as career fairs, employer presentations, and industry tours.
- Perform additional tasks like tutoring undergraduate students, grading assignments, or assisting with classroom activities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in at least 3 graduate credit hours during both fall and spring semesters.
- A minimum 2.50 GPA.
- A professional, organized, and service-oriented approach to your work.
- Academic background in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position based in Oklahoma.
- Employment is at-will and follows a rolling term.
- This position is paid and includes a tuition waiver and stipend per university policy.
