This is a 6-month, full-time internship focused on the intersection of ASL linguistics and technology. You will join the generation team to support the development of English-to-Gloss translation models and avatar signing pipelines. This position requires a combination of linguistic knowledge and technical aptitude to help bridge the gap between sign language research and practical application.
What you'll do#
- Work on glossing and annotating ASL Classifier (CL) video data.
- Design a CL inventory for integration into the company dictionary, culminating in a final project demo.
- Assist in the design of evaluation frameworks, including A/B testing, for CL outputs.
- Perform high-level feature labeling and minimal pair analysis.
- Collaborate with the team to refine annotation schemas.
What you'll need#
- Native-level ASL signing skills.
- Educational background in linguistics, computer science, data science, or a related field.
- Comfort using video annotation tools or performing basic data analysis.
- Interest in sign language generation technology.
- Familiarity with ASL classifier systems is considered a plus.

- Location: Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Modality: On-site.
- Duration: 6 months.
- Compensation: Paid position ($20-$30/hr depending on experience).
- Eligibility: Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
