About the role#
We are seeking current students for a Summer 2027 Geotechnical Engineering internship in our Waltham office. You will work alongside professionals in the office and the field to gain hands-on experience while applying your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering investigations, analyses, and design of structures including foundations, ground improvement systems, and excavation support.
- Conduct analyses related to soil settlement, slope stability, soil dynamics, groundwater flow, and seepage.
- Evaluate earthen embankments, dams, reservoirs, tunnels, and pavements.
- Perform forensic evaluations of failed or deteriorated structures.
- Support construction operations for contractors, including new construction and repair projects.
- Evaluate litigation claims projects.
- Collaborate with other engineering groups on slope and shoreline stabilization and drainage systems.
- Organize field data and assist with research to support problem-solving and repair design.
- Perform analysis using hand calculations and software under the guidance of licensed professionals.
- Assist with preparing client deliverables, such as construction documents, specifications, and reports.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering.
- A strong interest in geotechnical engineering.
- A record of high academic achievement.
- Interest in gaining hands-on experience within a consulting engineering environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for developing sophisticated engineering work products in a professional atmosphere.
