Intern, Electrical Engineering

About the role#

The Electrical Engineering intern will assist in the design of electrical components to support the robotic control of firearms. This role involves working within a team environment alongside R&D designers, test technicians, and engineers to support departmental goals. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Fall 2026 semester.

What you'll do#

• Assist with firmware and software development tasks using Linux, Bash, and Python to support hardware system integration and testing.
• Participate in the testing and validation of electromechanical systems, including identifying and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Analyze test data and author detailed test reports.
• Perform hands-on rework and assembly of PCBAs, cables, and electromechanical systems.
• Support the documentation of designs, test procedures, and configuration management for hardware and software artifacts.
• Process engineering design change orders and manage prototype parts inventory.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to refine designs and support continuous improvement activities.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and experience using PCB design software to edit or create schematics.
• Preferred: Advanced coursework in digital design, programmable logic design, PCB layout, or motor control.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for the majority of the shift and lifting up to 40 pounds.
• Strong fine motor skills for assembly and testing tasks.
• Experience using and maintaining firearms is considered a plus.
