Intern, Research & Development, Uncrewed Systems

About the role#

This internship provides an opportunity to support the design and development of uncrewed systems within a team of R&D designers, test technicians, and engineers. This is a full-time, paid position for the Fall 2026 semester, running from September through December.

What you'll do#

• Create CAD design models using SolidWorks and incorporate changes to existing designs.
• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings and process design change orders.
• Support the performance of tests and experiments, analyze data, and write detailed test reports.
• Assist in the manufacture and inventory management of prototype parts and products.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and sustain 5S standards.
• Follow all ISO procedures, EH&S training requirements, and security mandates, including safe firearm handling and range safety protocols.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Basic proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks highly preferred) to create parametric solid models and engineering drawings.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and report creation.
• Preferred: Advanced coursework in thermodynamics, fluids, materials, mechanisms, or CAD; prior internship or design project experience; experience with firearms.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
