About the role#
We are looking for an intern to join our Water Sector for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support a variety of water and wastewater projects. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Indianapolis.
What you'll do#
- Create conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering drawings, including plan and profiles, using AutoCAD Civil3D.
- Perform calculations and analysis for the design of sanitary and storm sewers, as well as watermains.
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Assist the project team with feasibility studies and functional plans.
- Help obtain necessary permits and approvals for construction.
- Coordinate with suppliers and contractors regarding industry standards and shop drawings.
- Manage tasks across multiple projects at different stages.
- Support contract administration and construction inspection duties on project sites.
- Assist with business development tasks, such as preparing proposals and time task matrices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on producing quality work.
- Willingness to learn new software and apply it to your tasks.
- Ability to manage your time and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- A commitment to integrity and ethical, sustainable work practices.
- Experience working in a diverse and inclusive team environment.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset.
- Experience with ArcGIS and Environmental Assessment is an asset.
- Ability to learn design guidelines, standards, and the planning process.
