About the role#
We are looking for an Intern to join our Water sector for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside experienced engineers to support a variety of water and wastewater projects. This is a full-time, paid position based in Chicago.
What you'll do#
- Create conceptual, preliminary, and detailed engineering drawings, including plan and profiles using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Prepare engineering reports, cost estimates, and specifications.
- Perform calculations for the design of storm sewers, sanitary sewers, and watermains.
- Assist the project team with feasibility studies and functional plans.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers regarding shop drawings and industry standards.
- Help secure necessary permits and approvals for construction.
- Support business development tasks such as proposal preparation and time task matrices.
- Assist with contract administration and construction inspection duties on site when required.
- Manage tasks across multiple projects at different stages of development.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a focus on producing quality results.
- Willingness to learn new software and apply it to your work.
- Ability to manage your time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation is an asset.
- Experience with ArcGIS and Environmental Assessment is an asset.
