About the role#
Services for the UnderServed is looking for a creative and proactive intern to join the Marketing Communications team. This role provides hands-on experience in digital asset management, content strategy, and visual storytelling. You will support the organization by creating content for major initiatives, including the Developmental Disabilities Championships, Giving Tuesday, the Holiday Gift Project, and end-of-year fundraising campaigns. This is a paid, part-time position designed for someone who enjoys structure and wants to learn how social content supports nonprofit storytelling.
What you'll do#
- Develop and publish content for major organizational initiatives.
- Support social media posting across platforms including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Threads, Bluesky, and TikTok.
- Track comments, messages, and interactions to monitor audience engagement.
- Identify trends and opportunities that align with ongoing campaigns.
- Maintain the content calendar by tracking deadlines and upcoming posts.
- Visit program sites across New York City to capture photos and short-form video content.
- Document lived experiences and collect quotes from participants, staff, or volunteers while following consent guidelines.
- Assist with monthly performance summaries and analytics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a program in communications, marketing, journalism, digital media, library science, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience with social media platforms, digital asset management, and emerging digital trends.
- Strong writing skills with an understanding of tone, voice, and visual storytelling.
- Experience with basic photo and video capture and editing.
Location & details#
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 21 to December 11).
- Hours: 20 hours per week.
- Modality: Hybrid. Work takes place at the central office in New York, offsite at various locations, and remotely. Tuesdays and Thursdays are preferred for onsite work.
- Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
