About the role#
SeatGeek is looking for a Security Engineering Intern to join our Security team. You will gain hands-on experience across our security program, ranging from application security and threat modeling to detection engineering and incident response. You will work alongside experienced engineers to build proactive, secure systems through automation, visibility, and collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineering teams to provide security guidance on new products.
- Assist in threat modeling and architecture reviews for upcoming features.
- Perform security assessments through basic penetration testing and code reviews.
- Promote secure coding practices by working closely with developers.
- Engineer and enhance security controls to harden our AWS environment.
- Contribute to automation and tooling projects that scale security processes.
- Support incident response efforts by identifying vulnerabilities and tuning alerts.
- Participate in Purple team exercises to explore both offensive and defensive perspectives.
- Share ideas to improve our security programs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment with a graduation date in spring or summer 2028.
- Proficiency in two or more programming languages (Python, C#, or Go).
- A solid grasp of coding and code review practices.
- Ability to think like an attacker to identify vulnerabilities and improve defensive measures.
- Understanding of secure software development practices, threat modeling, and common security vulnerabilities.
- Curiosity and a desire to learn how systems work.
- Preference for candidates with contributions to the security community, experience with automation, or familiarity with modern architectures like Kubernetes and AWS.
- Bonus points for active participation in CTF, bug bounty hunting, or hackathons.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship at $55 per hour.
- The role is based in New York, New York.
- You are expected to work from the New York City office at least 3 days a week.
- This position does not offer visa sponsorship.
