About the role#
Sandman Structural Engineers is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team. You will gain hands-on experience in structural analysis, design, and project coordination while working in office, field, and construction site environments.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine technical work and standard computations.
- Apply prescribed techniques and procedures according to company criteria.
- Collect data and gather project information or documents.
- Prepare drawings and visual aids for ongoing projects.
- Observe construction activities in the field.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure the safety of yourself and your coworkers.
What you'll need#
- At least 2 years completed toward an ABET/EAC accredited bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field.
- Coursework in structural analysis with computer applications, strength of materials, and steel or concrete design.
- Experience or training in Revit or AutoCAD.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and complete work within deadlines.
- A valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Physical ability to conduct field inspections, which may include lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Membership in professional student organizations or involvement in university engineering clubs.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
