About the role#
Sandman Structural Engineers is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience in structural analysis, design, and project coordination. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The role involves a mix of office work and field visits to construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine technical work and standard computations.
- Apply prescribed techniques and procedures according to company criteria.
- Collect data, gather information, and prepare drawings or visual aids.
- Observe construction activities while following health and safety guidelines.
- Develop a professional understanding of ethical responsibilities in engineering.
What you'll need#
- At least 2 years completed toward an ABET/EAC accredited bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
- Physical ability to conduct field inspections, including lifting up to 50 pounds and navigating construction environments.
- A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Residence near Maple Grove, Moorhead, or Brainerd, Minnesota.
- Preferred: Coursework in structural analysis, strength of materials, steel design, or concrete design.
- Preferred: Experience with Revit or AutoCAD, and involvement in student organizations or local outreach.

- Compensation: $24 to $27 per hour, depending on experience and education.
