About the role#
Sandman Structural Engineers is looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team. This role provides hands on experience in structural analysis, design, and project coordination. You will work in an office setting and visit construction sites to observe activities.
What you'll do#
- Perform routine technical work and standard computations.
- Apply prescribed techniques and procedures according to company criteria.
- Collect data and gather project documents.
- Prepare drawings and visual aids.
- Observe construction activities in the field.
- Learn about professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure your safety and the safety of your colleagues.
What you'll need#
- At least 2 years completed toward an ABET/EAC accredited bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field.
- Completed coursework in structural analysis, strength of materials, and steel or concrete design.
- Experience or training with AutoCAD or Revit.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Physical ability to conduct field inspections, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions.
- Involvement in professional student organizations or local engineering outreach.
