About the role#
Samsung Semiconductor is seeking an intern for the Power & Thermal Lab. You will help build and validate power models for AI memory components. The team works on real-world problems where power and heat impact system performance. You will have direct ownership of your tasks and work alongside hardware, software, and thermal experts.
What you'll do#
- Develop IP-level power macromodels for AI memory components, including PHY, memory controllers, interconnects, and TSV.
- Extract power features from RTL, SystemC, and C simulations based on activity, value, and state.
- Support model calibration using synthesis assisted anchors, circuit level references, and measured data.
- Validate models against RTL, gate level power analysis, and silicon results.
- Deliver validated models and regression checks into the trace-driven flow.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
What you'll need#
- MS or PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least one academic quarter or semester remaining in your studies.
- Experience in RTL design and analysis using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or SystemC.
- Proficiency in C++ or Python.
- Understanding of dynamic and leakage power in CMOS and interconnects.
- Ability to abstract circuit behavior into compact models.
- Preferred experience includes power analysis tools like PrimeTime PX, StarRC, VCS, or PowerArtist.
- Preferred experience includes architecture level modeling tools such as McPAT, CACTI, or Wattch.
- Preferred knowledge of S-parameters, SPICE, UCIe, high speed I/O, or 2.5D packaging.
Location & details#
