About the role#
Salas O'Brien is looking for a BIM Intern to join our team for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, paid position offers hands-on experience in Building Information Modeling and engineering technology. You will work alongside BIM managers, coordinators, and engineering teams to support Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) projects while receiving structured training. This role is open to students or recent graduates from technical programs who want to build a career in BIM.
What you'll do#
- Perform Autodesk Revit and MEP modeling.
- Assist with Revit project setup and ongoing model maintenance.
- Work with BEN Revit templates, families, and standards.
- Utilize Autodesk Forma for cloud-based project collaboration.
- Manage architectural and engineering model linking.
- Handle levels, grids, shared coordinates, and Copy/Monitor workflows.
- Create views, view templates, scope boxes, and manage sheet setup.
- Execute PDF creation and perform drawing and document quality control.
- Support model coordination and clash-detection workflows.
- Apply BIM standards and digital project-delivery processes.
- Assist engineering teams with daily BIM and Revit needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a CAD, BIM, architectural technology, engineering technology, construction technology, or related program.
- A strong interest in Revit, BIM, engineering, and technology.
- Basic experience with Autodesk Revit or a genuine desire to learn the software.
- Comfort working with computers and a willingness to pick up new software quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to following established procedures.
- Good communication skills and comfort asking questions.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship.
- Work is on-site at our offices in Madison, Wisconsin; Chicago, Illinois; or Bloomfield, Connecticut.
