About the role#
The Local Cup Fellow supports the operations of a community-run coffee shop in the Near Northwest Neighborhood of South Bend. This role centers on a pay-it-forward model that serves people across all income levels. You will work on-site to maintain daily operations while providing mentorship to teen interns.
What you'll do#
- Learn every aspect of coffee shop operations, from opening and drink preparation to pour-over brewing.
- Manage cleanup at the end of the day and follow all health codes.
- Explain the mission and the pay-it-forward system to customers.
- Supervise 1-2 teen interns and provide positive mentorship.
- Attend weekly Site Leader meetings and bi-weekly leadership training sessions.
- Create a welcoming environment by interacting with customers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Saint Mary's College with eligibility for Federal Work Study or Community Service.
- Enthusiastic and mature approach with strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to relate well to people from diverse socio-economic and racial backgrounds.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated work style.
- Reliability and the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Access to reliable transportation by car or bicycle.
Location & details#
- Location: Notre Dame, Indiana.
- Schedule: Wednesday through Sunday mornings.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
